The remote western regions of China, with its varied geographies and myriad of cultures, await exploration. On your Tangula journey you will encounter China's most stunning destinations, places that have been captured in poetry and art throughout the centuries, all while traveling in first class comfort. Each journey also features exclusive off-train excursions that will connect you to these unique environments.

Tangula offers two rail routes with four distinctive journeys:

Northern Route: Beijing to Lhasa and Lhasa to Beijing
Five-day/four-night journeys depart from Beijing for Lhasa, with four-day/three-night journeys departing from Lhasa for Beijing. Traverse the vast grasslands and deserts that were once part of the old Silk Road, enjoy the spectacular Tibetan plateau, pass through a myriad of snow-capped mountain ranges and glide along the rim of the pristine, mineral-rich Cuona and Qinghai Lakes.

Southern Route: Beijing to Lijiang and Lijiang to Beijing
Five-day/four-night journeys depart from Beijing to Lijiang, with four-day/three-night journeys departing from Ljiang for Beijing. Traveling through Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, home to more than 25 ethnic groups, each with its own customs, architectural style and artistic traditions, you will visit the mystical karst landscapes of the Li River, the extraordinary Shilin Stone Forest and enjoy the fabled charm of Dali.
